This week I'm chatting with Valerie Schoenfeld.

Valerie is a northern Virginia lifestyle photographer and mom to 3 little boys 4 and under. It was after becoming a mom that her love for photography took on a new journey. She  wanted to be able to capture all those fleeting moments and remember each stage of her children’s lives, so she bought her first DSLR camera in the fall of 2015 shortly after her first was born. A new spark was ignited in the spring of 2019 when she took photos for people she had never met in an attempt to save up for a photography course. Little did she know, that decision would bring forth this overpowering sense of joy and creativity that she had been missing for so long since becoming a mother.

Her passion is for taking lifestyle photos to capture those special moments and connections between families and couples. Her goal is that you smile and find joy in the moments and memories that were made while taking your photos and that they provide a snapshot in time that you will always cherish.

This week I’m chatting with Brad Bizjack.

Brad Bizjack lives in Royal Oak, Michigan with his wife, Janiece, and Oliver, their miniature cockapoo! They are college sweethearts and have been happily married since June 2017!

Brad was a professional network marketer for 5 years helping people across the United States and Canada with their health and wellness. After 9 months of being business, he left his corporate role to pursue a home-business full time.

But his business was failing. Brad was earning 1/4 of what he was making in the corporate world even though he was promoting a “life by design.” He felt like a fraud.

So he tried to beat it. Brad spent thousands of hours reading books and tens of thousands of dollars attending seminars or taking courses just trying to piece together how to finally break through everything holding me back. It took 5 years, but finally, he figured it out.

He created Appreciation Academy, which gives you the 5 years of growth he experienced in less than 1 month.

Regardless if your goal is to quit your job and start your dream business, find the perfect 9-5 for you, or attract the love of your life, it doesn’t need to take you years to figure it out.

Brad helps people break through all the obstacles getting in the way of an amazing life. He’ll show you how to get out of your own way and close the gap between where you are and where you really want to be. In other words, he helps you breakthrough everything holding you back from an incredible life on your terms.

This week I’m chatting with Judith Richmond.

In her former life Judith was a Boy Scout Assistant Scoutmaster and the mother of two Eagle Scouts.  Judith learned the skills necessary to teach boys how to learn, be creative, be resilient, and make confident young men.

Now she is turning her attention to teaching the same skills to girls so they can grow to be confident and resilient.  Having scout skills she learned helped her to become a better mom during some difficult times in her life.

Judith has ADHD and dyslexia. Both of her sons have learning disabilities, ADHD and dyslexia. She knows how difficult it can be not only as a student but also as a parent of children with ADHD and dyslexia. It is also difficult to find programs to teach children and teens with these learning disabilities. Her programs are designed with this in mind.

Formerly a chemist and robotic engineer from New Jersey, she resides in Maryland with her husband, Chris and their dog, Maxx.

This week I’m chatting with Nick and Katherine North.

Katherine was a cynic who didn't even believe in true love...until she accidentally fell in love at almost 40-years-old with her best friend, Nick.

But when they fell in love, he wasn't "Nick"... he was "Nikki." And, Nikki was pregnant with baby #4!

Assigned female at birth, Nick always knew deep down he was a man trapped in a woman's body. A stay-at-home pregnant mom and family photographer who didn’t think life could ever be any different, he was stuck in a life that should have made him happy but wasn’t his own.

Together, they navigated Nick's transition from female to male as a couple and as parents and as business owners.

They negotiated the challenges of transitioning while blending a family and keeping their businesses afloat. They continue maneuvering through marriage, parenting five kids, nontraditional gender roles (who pays the bills and does the dishes?,) and so much more.

With true stories, embarrassing anecdotes, and practical advice, Nick and Katherine show their audience and clients how to start taking brave steps in their own lives, wherever they are starting.

Nick and Katherine recently received a grant from Storyhive to create a documentary film about their family called “Just Another Beautiful Family” and are developing the "Beautiful Families" project which will include a conference, podcast, and supportive online community for all sorts of nontraditional families. They have appeared on numerous stages and media outlets.

This week I’m chatting with Natalie Allgyer.

Natalie Allgyer is a photo artist, with a fiercely creative soul who uses a camera and photoshop to display a wide array of feeling and emotion. She learned her craft on her own and continues to hone it weekly.

Born in NJ she and her husband chose Charleston, SC as the place for them to raise their daughter. It was in Charleston that Natalie found her soul, and the creativity began to flow thru the lens of her camera. At one point she decided that reality wasn’t conveying her message as deeply as she felt it so she took to photoshop. That is where the magic began.

Natalie’s whimsical style incorporates pieces of her own images that she makes with her dslr camera. It can take an upward of 20 images to create one of her works. She enjoys using elements of nature and the world around her in her art.  Her carefully curated color choices in combination with painstakingly thoughtful lighting, contrast, and texture lends itself to her empathic vibe and painterly feel.

Each of Natalie pieces are available as limited edition prints only. Once they run out that is it. There will be no more creations of that particular piece. Each print is printed on archival velvet paper, signed and numbered by Natalie herself, and each comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Natalie’s mission is to show you the world thru her eyes while also conveying feelings and vibes that just about each and every one of us could relate to in some way. Cheers and enjoy!

In this episode Beryl turns the tables as her friend and fellow creative Alicia Bruce interviews her on her journey to becoming a coach for creative moms. Some of the questions she asks on this episode include:

  • When did you begin your journey toward becoming a coach? Why did you start that journey in the first place?
  • At what point do you recommend someone begin working with a coach? Why would they want to work with one?
  • How do you begin your sessions and what is a typical coaching session like?

This interview is a compliment to Alicia's forthcoming article for the Clickin' Moms blog (link coming soon!)

Today Beryl is chatting with Tsh Oxenreider, a wife, mother, blogger, podcaster, world traveler, and fixer-upper. Basically, she's a mama of all trades! While living in Turkey with her husband she struggled with depression, and through it all, she founded her blog, The Art of Simple, as a creative outlet. She has since found her true life purpose and helps others to do the same!

Tsh recently authored a new book At Home in the World: Reflections on Belonging While Wandering the Globe, and her writing has been featured in the Washington Post, CNN, Real Simple magazine, and more. A graduate of the University of Texas, where she studied English and anthropology, Tsh currently lives in the Austin, Texas area with her family and eats tacos several times a week.

Listen in as they discuss:

  • Finding creativity during a depression, while in a totally new country across the world.
  • How living simply can be completely freeing.
  • Different types of creativity, and how it doesn't always have to mean art.
  • Finding your life's purpose, even when that task seems super daunting.

Alright Recapture self friends, it's your turn. Time for this episode's homework.
