Each episode features a fresh tip or technique for helping you capture what matters through your own camera. Plus, host Beryl Young, founder of Momtography, shares stories of women who have opted out of overwhelm, burnout, and the neverending to-do list through self-expression. Today Beryl is chatting with Alicia Bruce, her neighbor and business BFF. Alicia proclaims herself to be an awkward and geeky dreamer and believer in magic. She’s the the girl who wears Converse with dresses, prefers jumping on a trampoline to doing squats, drinks bourbon when she’s casual and Scotch when she’s fancy, and could name all of the Mercury 7 astronauts, but not a single Real Housewife.

When she decides to adult (which is more often than she likes to admit) she’s the photographer behind the brand Love Knot Photo rocking her camera shooting weddings, small businesses,  and brands she loves.

In this episode join Alicia and Beryl as they chat about:

  • Allowing your biggest transitions in life to be your greatest teachers -- ones that can easily open the door to a creative revival in your life.
  • Why being selfish is a GOOD thing - and how being selfish can actually make you a better mom.
  • Plus Alicia sheds light on how she chooses which creative projects she charges for and which she keeps just for herself - because setting boundaries around your creative projects - especially when your interests are vast and varied is hugely important to your overall well being.

Today it’s time for a monthly chat with Recapture Self Community Manager - Jen Doolittle. Each month we’ll dive deep and chat about ONE topic relating to our journey as Creatives, People, and Parents.

This month our topic is Boundaries.

In this episode we chat about

  • Our thoughts on Glennon Doyle Melton’s recent bestselling book, Love Warrior
  • How boundaries emcompasses so much more than simply saying NO
  • The importance of vulnerability in making meaningful connections with others especially when it comes to talking about the ‘hard moments’ in parenting
  • When our vulnerability is TOO MUCH vulnerability and how to strike a balance between holding your emotions in and letting them out.
  • We also coin a new term for what we both do when it comes to dealing with pent up emotions: Creative Sanity -- stick around till the end of the episode to find out more about what that means.
